The Ministry’s Aviation and Forest Fire Management (AFFM) program coordinates forest fire detection, monitoring, suppression and public information and education services for Ontario. AFFM also provides aviation services for the Ontario government and leads emergency management planning and response for natural hazards such as forest fires, floods, erosion, dam failures, unstable soils and bedrock, droughts and oil and gas emergencies.

Dial 911 from within Atikokan for any emergency. Outside of Atikokan, dial 1-888-310-1122 to reach the Communications Centre in Kenora. If you are calling from the U.S., please call 1-807-468-3357.

For non-urgent or administrative matters, you can contact the Atikokan Detachment between 8:30 AM and 3:45 PM, Monday through Friday, by telephoning 597-2120 or faxing 597-2255. All correspondence intended for Atikokan OPP must be mailed to the attention of the Detachment Commander - Inspector Dave Lucas at the Fort Frances address above.

Provincial MPP Local Constituency Office

The Atikokan Constituency Office services constituents in the riding by responding to their inquiries, acting as a liaison with Provincial and Federal ministries, providing inormaiton about government servicies and, upon request, providing scrolls for special occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries.

Quetico Provincial Park Interior

Quetico Provincial Park has a vast expanse of lakes, rivers and forests for you to explore in one of the great symbols of Canadian History, the Canoe. With over 80 kilometres of portages, 2975 lakes and 4,758 square kilometres of land, your adventures are endless. There are six entry stations located around the Park. You can access Dawson Trail, Atikokan, Beaverhouse and Lac La Croix by car or fly into Cache Bay or Prairie Portage. There are roughly 2200 campsites in the interior and being a wilderness park, there is a ban on mechanized travel, cans and bottles. These are not permitted in the interior of the park.

You can stop in to Atikokan before or after your trip. You will find all the amenities you need. There are a number of Canadian and American Outfitters willing to assist with your trip planning and will supply you with all the appropriate gear required. You can visit the Dawson Trail Campground and talk to the Natural Heritage Education Leader or Gate Staff about your trip plans; they can assist in finding features you may wish to visit on your trip.

Day use and campground permits are required anytime of year to enter the park.
