Northern Tier National High Adventure Summer Canoe Trip Leader and Camp Staff

Summer Canoe Trip Leader and Camp Staff

Entry level is $215/week + room & board, gear rental (eg. 200k pa CTC)

18 or over, people oriented and able to work with teenage youth and adults of all ages, at home in the wilderness, energetic, a quick learner, willing to teach others, eligible to join the Boy Scouts of America or Scouts Canada (women too!), have a clean criminal and driving record (this is required to cross the border).

The canoe trip leader, know as an Interpreter, is the main program person working with the youth and adults in the crew. He/she serves as a Scouting role model for trail crews. Is a specialist and resource person to the trail crew on all aspects of the canoe trip. This includes, but is not limited to: packing and preparation for trip, food handling, navigation, safety, history, fishing and ecology. * Note: You must be able to pass a swim test.

Other camp staff positions including Office Support, Outfitting, Trading Post, Dining Hall, Maintenance and Living History are also available.

Northern Tier is a National High Adventure program of the Boy Scouts of America, with locations in Ely, MN, Atikokan, ON and Bissett, MN. We offer 6-10 day, wilderness canoe treks for Scout, Venturers and Leaders. The program began in 1923, and is the only outfitter in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and Canada charged by the Boy Scouts of America to deliver the Scouting program to Scouts and Leaders adventuring into North America's Canoe Country.
